April 23, 1963
Formal announcement by system pastors to finance and construct a $1.5 million building program. Pastors: Fr. Charles Steinlage, Sts. Peter & Paul, Petersburg; Fr. Donald Peters, St. Paul, Worthington; Msgr. John Mayer, St. Francis Xavier, Dyersville; Fr. Herman Dietz, St. Joseph, Earlville; Fr. Nicholas Krull, St. Bonifice, New Vienna.

Beckman name confirmed. (selected by students, parents, and pastors. Named after Archbishop J. L. Beckman.

Beckman's structural beginnings
September 1966
Beckman Opened. (Costs: $1.8 million) 522 students- grades 9-12, Staff- 27, 4- Priests, 12- Sisters, 3- Christian Brothers, 8- Lay staff.
Jan. 27, 1967
First mass offered in Beckman chapel by Monsignor Mayer.
May 7, 1967
Archbishop Byrne officiated at solemn blessing and dedication.
June 4, 1967
First graduating class- 121 students.
September 1970
Three hundred students, grades 7 & 8, from System schools entered Beckman on a shared time basis with Western Dubuque. In May of '71 an agreement was struck to hold shared time at Kortenkamp Hall on the Xavier campus.
September 1970
A Special Education Day Care Center was established with the cooperation of Area Residential Care. Seven students were enrolled, ages 4-7.
September 1970
New Bleachers installed in the gymnasium.
October 1970
New Scoreboard donated by the Lions and JayCees.
Nov. 5, 1973
Board voted to close Beckman due to financial crisis.
Nov. 19, 1973
Motion to close school was rescinded. (Spearheaded by Joe Ertl and Linus Showalter) By November 19, lay leaders collected $570,655 of $750,000 goal in two weeks. Committee chair: Bud Domeyer. Co-Chairs: Leon Bagge, Bill Bonert, Bill Domeyer, Bob Engelken, John Kruse, Martin Kruse, Phil Kruse '68, 'Red' Loesche, Dave Lueck, LaVerne Mensen, Mark Peckham.

Beckman Endowment Board established.

Shared time discontinued by Western Dubuque.
