Parents of athletes in all grades and ages, I wanted to write up a brief message sharing the "WHY" for training year-round with a unified strength & speed program available to all athletes and students at Beckman. We hope to share the importance of strength & speed training with parents so everyone can be confident and be a part of the program.
Unified Approach: We don’t do sport-specific strength, speed, & agility training. Our goals apply to all of our student-athletes. We use a consistent and unified program to develop and achieve those goals.
Consistency: High school athletes that train 2-3 times per week for 4 years will make more progress than the kids that “go hard” every day for a few months and then fizzle out.
In-Season Training:Once athletes develop their base of training, they will experience less soreness from training. We modify the volume of workouts for those in-season. This allows the athletes to train, make progress, and compete at a high level of their given sport. If athletes stop training, this oftentimes leads them to being at their weakest when they should be at their peak.
Injury Prevention:While all injuries are not preventable, our strength and speed programming gives our athletes a foundational fitness base to allow them to compete at their peak while reducing stress on their bodies.
We are excited for the opportunity to work with Beckman Catholic athletes on a daily basis. See the attached presentation for more information on the strength & speed program offered at Beckman.
